How many times have you found yourself thinking one thing and yet feeling or doing something quite different? When you plan to do something and then don not get around to doing it most people tend to account for this on the assumption that they are simply weak willed.
Few people would ever think that this inability to do the things that you want to do is perhaps because you are too strong willed. To explain what I mean here, you have to consider that there is more than one part to your mind. Most of us appreciate that we have both conscious and subconscious thought processes but not all of us fully appreciate the roles of these different parts of our minds.
The word "conscious" derives from the prefix "con", which means contrary, and "sic", which means to know or to understand. The word conscious encompasses the ability to view oneself from a contrary angle; to be able to see oneself from outside the instinctive thought processes from within.
Thus consciousness refers to your own unique ability to be aware of your inner thoughts, beliefs, memories, feelings and expectations. This brings me back to the question of how well do you really know yourself? Because surely if you know yourself well you would be able to do anything and everything that you set your mind to do?
The fact is that your subconscious mind is the part that makes your real decisions and choices, not your conscious mind. It has been shown that a scientist watching an MRI scan of a subject's brain activity can actually predict the decision that person is about to make up to six seconds before they actually make that decision consciously.
Your subconscious decisions really do drive and propel your life. If you want to change the decisions that your subconscious mind is making for you, then your conscious mind needs to become more aware of what is going in in your subconscious.
How can one achieve this level of awareness? Hypnosis is the perfect solution to this conundrum. Hypnosis allows you to access and infiltrate your subconscious mind. Hypnosis is in fact a perfectly natural and normal state that you pass through as you do to sleep at night or wake up in the morning. It is the dream like state between wake and sleep.
Many people are familiar with the feeling of frustration caused by knowing part of their dream but being unable to remember the rest, or perhaps they know that they have been dreaming but have completely forgotten it’s content. This demonstrates how we do have a window to our subconscious thought processes when we drift into this dream like state.
Hypnosis allows you to intentionally enter this state of heightened awareness. With hypnosis you can become consciously aware of what is in your subconscious and if you wish to change something you can embed new thoughts within the inner recesses of your mind, thereby altering beliefs, expectations and behavior.
