Whenever you read books relating to the mental attributes associated with winning or success in life you always come across the need for a strong sense of self. Put another way, you have to have a strong self-image and belief in your own strength to be able to win.

John Wooden, the renowned basketball player and coach, put it another way. "Ability may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there". The clear inference is thus that it is vitally important in a person who seeks to win and to succeed to be able to develop and maintain a strong sense of self.

John Wooden is also quoted as saying "Your reputation is what you are perceived to be. Your character is who you are". i.e. Your character is who you really are not merely what other people think, suspect, assume or perceive.

How many people do you think truly knows his or her own character? We humans are very adept at hiding things from others, but we are also pretty effective in hiding things from ourselves. Do you really know yourself? Do you know your strengths and your weaknesses and do you work to become stronger in character?

There are different aspects to a person's sense of self. There is that which you are consciously aware of but also things that you are only aware of at a subconscious level. Sometimes your subconscious mind works very effectively in your favor, but at other times it may in fact have a sabotaging effect.

It requires a high degree of self-awareness to be able to "catch" your subconscious mind when it is working to your disadvantage and to persuade it along a different course. In a sporting situation such character can be seen at times when the pressure is on and the person in question overcomes nerves or tension and rises to the challenge that he or she is facing. This is just one example that shows the value of "character" in the sense that John Wooden was using it.

Such character is required of us in many varied situations in life. Hypnosis is a very helpful tool for use by any person who wants to win or who wishes to succeed. Hypnosis allows the user to connect between conscious and subconscious mental processes and to align subconscious expectations with conscious desires. It helps you to develop a greater degree of self-awareness and also to build strong character.

You will undoubtedly have dreams. Whether you dream of having the perfect house with the perfect car, or you dream of settling down to have a family, even if you dream of retiring by the time you're 40, the one key to success is doing something about it. It may sound obvious but if you dream of retiring before you reach 40 and yet you aimlessly skip from job to job with no hope to progress a career, it is very unlikely you will achieve your vision.

Motivation can take you far, but it can take you even further if you first find your vision. Your vision will motivate and guide you on your journey to success and personal fulfilment. Trying to succeed at anything without first having a clear vision of what it is you want to accomplish will only lead to you going around in circles and eventually giving up in frustration.

Set goals and ambitions and write them down on a piece of paper. The American inventor Thomas Edison said “All too often, when seeking a vision, it is easy to forget that it is 90 percent inspiration”. Make sure that you are always striving to reach those goals. Sometimes it can be difficult to get the motivation you require in order to succeed at your goals but you can use the goals themselves as the motivation you require. Keep your piece of paper on you and if you are beginning to feel downbeat or sceptical about your goals then look at your piece of paper and remember why you are pushing yourself

Learn to listen to your inner voice. Since your vision starts from inside you, you should learn to listen and feel what your mind and heart truly desire. What stirs you? What is your greatest desire? What kind of dreams do you have? If what you think you want does not really come from the inner depths of your heart and soul, then you will find it difficult, if not impossible, to not give up before you achieve it.

Structuring your life in this way, may seem like it loses its spontaneity but that doesn't have to be the case. Find a career you like, set up a business, and have fun doing it but always remember that if a good opportunity crops up you should take it with both hands..

Presuming you have set reasonable goals you should always be able to see a way to fulfil them. If you set goals that are too difficult you will find it incredibly difficult if not completely impossible to meet your goals. You should try not to alter them if possible; however, we don't know what's around the corner so we can't always plan for it. Don't see this as a failure but take the opportunity to reassess your goals and keep going.

To develop your vision, you must look inside yourself. Vision comes from within, from the spirit or subconscious, whatever you choose to call it. Every one has a vision that is uniquely their own, and you are no different. The hard part comes in understanding your personal vision and how it applies to your personal motivation plan.

All truly successful people have a vision that they follow, no matter what challenges they may face, to its eventual outcome. Begin following the above steps to seek your vision today and remember that true, lasting success will never come to you until you know what your vision is and how you will follow it. And you will be unstoppable if you combine your personal vision with a healthy dose of motivation.

What makes your job worth getting up for? I was chatting with a friend yesterday who had a slightly jaded look about him. His response when I enquired as to what was up with him was that he just wanted to retire. He was fed up with his job but it was a still a financial necessity. In his words he "likes his toys and holidays too much" to be able to retire.

Later in the day I caught up with another friend who needed a temporary job whilst waiting to go to qualifying school for the European Tour in a few months time. I knew he'd been looking for something flexible and I asked if he'd found anything. "Yes" he replied, but before I got a chance to say "that's great" he added "the worst job ever - Pizza delivery".

He too had taken the job due to necessity. In my mind I would have said it wasn't a bad job for a budding golf professional who needs a lot of free time during the day to play and to practice. I can also appreciate that his university education didn't exactly encourage him to think that he might become a "pizza boy" and enjoy it.

Inevitably there are a lot of people who end up in jobs that they never expected to be in, or jobs that they have not found a way to enjoy, or in employment that they have stopped to find positively challenging or enjoyable. Even so, if you are in a position that means that you need to remain in that place, you are going to feel a whole lot better if you stop fighting it emotionally and focus upon making the most of it.

When you are feeling blue about anything in life you somehow need to be able to flick a switch in your mind and focus upon the good bits. What can you do so as to focus upon your job in a better way? What can you do to perceive your job in a lighter and brighter framework?

The first step is accepting that this is how it needs to be for now. If fighting your situation emotionally isn't going to change your situation, then you need to put down your negative weapons and surrender to your position. Just this one shift in attitude will make you feel a load better about your job and you'll be more willing to get up in the morning.

A willing employee is a better employee. A willing employee is also a lot happier and enjoys life a lot more. If you are going to do something you may as well do it with graciousness and a smile upon your face. The hours of work pass way more quickly, and if you are in a business that involves tips or recommendations, you'll earn a lot more money.

That of course is the bottom line. If you are in a job which you don't like you are in reality there for the money. You may as well earn as much of that as you possible can. That in itself should put a smile upon your face.

Hypnosis is a very helpful tool to use when you find it hard to make a focal shift. It's natural and easy to use. With hypnosis you can access your subconscious mind which is the part where instinctive and automatic thoughts and behaviors are stored. Thus if you feel the need to shift up a gear hypnosis makes that movement easier.

By: Roseanna Leaton
Category: Motivation

You are in all likelihood a lot tougher than you think you are. Most of us don't realize the real extent of our strength until we are tested by life events. When difficult situations evolve, we almost always rise to the occasion.

We think that we couldn't cope with many a circumstance, yet when those things happen we have no choice other than to get on and deal with it. When push comes to shove, we have an amazing ability to cope.

But why wait until these events materialize to appreciate how strong we are? Wouldn't it be beneficial to appreciate your strength and allow yourself to feel more empowered through that knowledge?

If you think you are strong, then you will be strong. If you think you are weak then you will feel weak...until some challenging event happens and you suddenly realize that you did have hidden reserves of personal strength.

Personal strength and empowerment derive from the way in which you habitually think. Your thoughts direct your actions and therefore the reality of your personal existence. Therefore the way in which you become stronger is by changing the way in which you instinctively focus and think.

You might have heard someone say, "There's no such word as can't". If you think that you can't cope, or can't do something, then it's likely that you cannot do it. But in most cases you can't because you think you can't, not because you really can't!

The moral of the story is to never accept that you can't do something. Adopt the phrase "there's no such word as can't" as your own mantra and live by that rule. Once you think in terms of "I can" your mind will find a way to do whatever it is you wish to do. By opening your mind to opportunities, you will find that they come to you.

Your subconscious mind is designed to work towards an end result. If you have something that you want to achieve and focus upon it, your subconscious mind will seek to find a way to get there. And so as you say to yourself "I can do this" your subconscious mind will respond to that directive and discover ways to achieve your goals.

Should you wish to increase your ability to think laterally and maximize the use of your subconscious mind, hypnosis is a great help. Hypnosis allows you to access your subconscious mind and get it working for you in an instinctive and automatic way.

It's been said that knowledge is power. While that's true to an extent, it isn't the whole truth. Knowledge without action is almost useless. It doesn't help to be a genius if you never do anything with the knowledge. I tend to think of knowledge as ammunition and action as a gun. (It's a typical guy thought, I know but it works for me.) Think about it. If you have bullets and no gun, they're pretty much useless. If you have a gun and no bullets, the best you can do is throw (action) the gun at the target. Not as useless as the bullets (knowledge) since action without knowledge is more productive than knowledge without action

The reason I've been thinking about this lately is that I've been reading article after article about how to make money, get high search engine ranking, find customers & prospects, motivate myself and others and several other subjects and realized that regardless of how much info I've gained, it's worthless if I don't act on the knowledge. And it's the same for everyone. It wouldn't matter if you had a PhD in Quantum Physics if you worked at McDonalds, or a library full of books and never used the knowledge within, now would it? I've met some really intelligent homeless people and some stupid millionaires and the biggest difference is action. Let me say this again, ACTION.

Action makes people successful to a certain degree. Not to say that any action will make people successful. Jumping up and down or changing channels will not do it, but action of any kind that propels you toward your target goal will get you they eventually. Another way to think of it is like having a map. I could give you a map to a lost treasure, but if you never left your house, it wouldn't do much good would it? So here's a question; what action will you do today, to reach your goal? Reading a book will only take you so far.

By: Roseanna Leaton
Category: Motivation

We repeatedly hear that your imagination paves the way to your reality. This is a pretty well known fact. But this fact can also be a source of frustration to those who just do not have a very good imagination. They want to imagine great things happening in their lives, but simply cannot seem to see those events in their minds eye.

Try as you can, some people find it extremely difficult to picture things in their imagination, or to effectively run a mental movie. Frustration builds as you know that you need to "place your goals on a time line" and mentally step into your mental movies to propel those goals into a state of reality. You know what you need to do but you can’t seem to get your creative mind to align with your wishes.

Albert Einstein is frequently quoted in his observation that imagination is more important than knowledge. His further explanation for this statement was that knowledge is always limited whereas ones imagination is infinite. In effect, your minds eye is the key to new discovery and to making things come real.

The basic training for ones imagination is the simple task of listening to stories. I'm sure very few of us cannot recall how our imagination was piqued by the bedtime stories that we heard nightly when we were younger. As adults most of us are aware of the impact of soundtracks which are written to enhance the effect of a movie. The music that is played to accompany a horror movie is an apt example here.

Auditory input definitely has the power to trigger and enhance ones imagination. Most people will also be aware of the way in which your emotional reaction to sound is intensified when listening through headphones. The use of headphones would appear to assist in ones focus and almost make you feel as if you are suspended in your own cocoon.

But this does not really explain why ones imagination has such a powerful effect in paving ones way to reality. The answer is in actual fact quite simple and straightforward. In mobilizing ones imagination you access a different part of your mind, the long-term memory store.

As you imagine something clearly and vividly you in effect elevate its strength and it produces a form of accelerated learning as it leaps into your deeper long-term memory store instead of just remaining in your more transient short-term memory store. It thus has more effect. It carries more weight. Therefore what you are imagining and focusing upon is more likely to come to fruition.

Hypnosis is one way in which one can trigger their ability to visualize vividly and clearly. The word hypnosis frequently gets in the way of people understanding the relationship between imagination and memory. There are many myths and misunderstandings about hypnosis that stop people from appreciating its powerfully beneficial effect.

As you listen to a hypnosis mp3 you are in effect listening to a story that in itself naturally piques ones imagination. If you choose to wear headphones the effect will also be intensified. Hypnosis is a state of mind that allows you to access your long-term memory store. You therefore store new images and their associated thoughts, behavior and beliefs in your long-term memory instead of short-term memory store.

This means that with the help of hypnosis you remember and therefore act on your imaginings more easily. Hypnosis can be viewed as creating for you an imagination chamber, that chamber being accessed through listening to auditory input.

Everybody knows that life is uncertain thing, what will happen in future nobody can say. But in this short period of time everybody wants to do something new, somebody wants to income money within short period of time, somebody wants to do something new thing or somebody wants to do nothing in his/her life. People do many thing to get his/her dream.

In maximum cases people need motivation to get his/her dream. But my question is ringing inside my brain is that: What is Motivation and Where Shall I Get It? I took many time to finding the answer of my question, but finally I got it. According to my knowledge and research I got these answer of question.

What is Motivation?

By searching internet I got many answer of this question. Some common definitions are:

"It is reasons which engage human in to particular behavior like: emotional maturity, pleasure & pain continuum etc."

"Attempts to be as happy as possible in life and achieve something or you can say to make some goals"

"It is process which is used by boss in company to get work from employees"

But all the definitions are not workable for me, what I understand from the reading that "the thing which has been used to get goals in a simple way whatever it is good or bad way, it doesn't matter is called motivation". I do not know whatever it is right or wrong but what I understood I just shared it with you.

Where Shall I Get It?

After resolving previous question that was "What is Motivation?", Now it is big task for me to find the answer of this complex question. But did not give up and found some answer which is follows:
"First of all I want to tell that you can get motivation anything whatever they are human or animals etc., because I previously said that the things which take us towards our destination is motivation.
Our first motivation starts from our parents especially from father and mother after that other person from family or relatives.

Second one is our friends. In my life friends motivate me more than my family. I can say here that whatever I am writing over here just because of their motivation.
Third motivation from great man, whom we call role models. These role models encourage as well as motivate us to do something good in life. People just follow their footsteps and like to be them in future.

Final one from my side is animals like "ant". From ant you can learn that how does a difficult work become easier through unity."

I know that these definitions and explanation is not enough for you to describe what is the actual meaning of motivation? but this article can give you a simple basic idea. If person get his/her goal by following this article then that person can says that "this is a motivation, which change my life".
